Ceramics and Plant pots

Bonsi

The tree is incidental, this was more a case of re-visiting my roots in ceramics and creating something that one day when I have a workshop again I might actually make.
The outer pot would be a stoneware clay (not decided which yet), the inner pot is terracotta.

The tree was constructed first with the skin modifier, the bark pattern was then stencilled into the surface with multires sculpting (and applied, this is a very dense mesh), vertex paint with dirty vertex was used to control a darker colour in the crevasses, the ‘leaves’ are just hairs.

The below images show how the inner pot fits into the outer pot, with the inner pot being more cylindrical and will rest on its rim, it might be possible to make the inner pot more bulb shape, to do this you could make and fire the outer pot first then fit the inner pot into the space and fire again.

Terracotta trees

Nothing fancy here, just toying with more ideas of things that could be physically made in ceramics, here two types of clay (terracotta & white earthenware ), first a bulb shaped pot would be created with sections then cut out, on top of the panels this creates would then be painted on with the terracotta clay is some basic forms, in this case trees.

Garden

This was just something quick and easy I ended up making when trying out the blender 2.8 release candidate, initially I had an idea to create some sort of funky plant pot however what is cool in the brain does not always translate to cool in (digital) reality so over the course of the week (trying to create said funky pot that I would be happy with) the project morphed into this scene.
